Project 3: Patterns and Backgrounds

Image
This is my picture "Green Bottles." I took it at a Meijers that is close to my house.  This is an example of a pattern in a picture. It is the same bottle over and over creating a pattern that fades off into the distance. This is my picture "COVID Shopping." I took it at a Meijers that is close to my house.  This is an example of a really bad background. First off, this is a very distracting background. The beams in the ceiling, watermelon, signs, and the woman in the background take the attention off of my subject (my little brother). Then there is the problem of the wire that looks like it is sprouting from his head. There is also a light that is shining directly at my camera that is rather distracting. Overall, this picture is not good, and it is an example of a very distracting and NOT visually pleasing background. This is my picture "Pumpkin in the Woods." I took this picture in my backyard. This Picture is an example of a good background. The focus...

Autumn Glow Project 2

Image
This is my picture "Autumn Glow." I took this in my dining room! This picture depicts vertical symmetry. Each side of the candelabra is the same and I set the candles up so that the colors are the same on each side. The chairs in the background are also symmetrical.

Red Glass Project 2

Image
This is my picture "Red Glass." I took this picture at the Franklin Park Conservatory. This picture is an example of assymetry. It demonstrates how asymmetrical pictures can give an impression of activity on one side while seeming calm on the other. The left side of the picture seems full of energy while the right seems calm and serene.

House of Glass Project 2

Image
This is my picture "House of Glass." I took this picture at the Franklin Park Conservatory. This picture is an example of leading lines. The path is the leading line and it leads directly to the conservatory, which is my subject.

Yellow Blossom Project 1

Image
This is my picture "Yellow Blossom." I took this picture at  the River Bluff area of Highbanks Park. This picture uses the rule of thirds and color. I have the flower lined up to the leftmost line of thirds with the stem starting at the lower left focal point. In the background, the field of flowers takes up one third, the trees take up the middle third, and the sky occupies the last third. The background uses mostly faded out greens and yellows, with the sky almost appearing white. In the foreground, the flower is strikingly yellow which immediately brings it to the viewer's attention. The hand also contrasts with the background.

Barbers Brush Project 1

Image
This is my picture "Barbers Brush," named because this plant can be called a Barbers Brush! I took this picture at the River Bluff area of Highbanks Park. In this picture, I used the rule of thirds. The Barbers Brush is on one of the third lines and is on two out of four focal points! In the background, the sky is in the top third, the trees are in the middle third, and the field of flowers is in the bottom third.

Surprise Pumpkin! Project 1

Image
This is my picture "Suprise Pumpkin!" It was taken at a farm market called Jacquiman Farms. This picture uses color. The orange pumpkin immediately draws your eye since it totally contrasts with the white pumpkins.
